Teak Nature Lodge | Mount Victory Camp

  • 4 Guests
  • 1 Bedroom
  • 3 Beds
  • 2 Bathrooms

The perfect place to stay if you are looking to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the island. At 600 ft elevation, nights are cooler and breezier than at sea level. Fall asleep to the sound of tree frogs and crickets. Wake up to beautiful sunrises over the hills. A 1.8 mile shady walk down a rainforest road brings you to white sand beaches.

Mount Victory Camp is located in the "rain-forest", on the beautiful west end of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. We have three, one-room Nature Lodges that are tucked into the landscape so as to give all guests privacy, and a view of the surrounding valleys.

The Teak Nature Lodge specifically has one double bed and 2 single beds. Check out our other listings for different bedding arrangements.

All guests have access to shared bathhouse with hot showers, our main pavilion with campfire area, Wifi, large cooking space and supplies, fridge access, and picnic/work tables.

You can either cook in your Nature Lodge or you can use the main pavilion kitchen.

Designed for a family of four to live comfortably, providing lots of room for a couple, each Nature Lodge features:

  • natural and private, lush setting
  • local tropical hardwood construction and fine woodworking
  • canopy roof and screened-in sides to keep the bugs out and let the cool breeze flow through
  • natural wood frame beds and comfortable mattresses
  • fresh bed linens
  • efficiency kitchen with propane cooking stove, sink with running water, basic cooking and eating utensils, pots and pans, and ice cooler
  • filtered drinking water
  • table and chairs
  • lots of natural wood countertops
  • wall outlets and electric lights
  • electric fan
  • handcrafted teak beds and comfortable mattresses with clean linens (weekly) are provided

More Details

The bathhouse has separate men's and women's rooms with double stalls on each side. There are two separate showers with private dressing stalls, hot water, and open roofs so you can see the stars at night.

We generally recommend renting a vehicle. St. Croix is much larger than the other Virgin Islands, so a car makes it much easier to get around and explore the whole island. It also makes it much easier to get groceries and to do trips to different beaches. However, for those who are on a tight budget, it is do-able without a rental car if you like walking. It is 1.8 miles fairly steep road to the beach and 3.5 miles from town (Frederiksted). Once in town, you can catch a public taxi van for $2.50 and ride it all the way to Christiansted or anywhere in between along the taxi's fixed route. The taxi's do not run after dark.

We (family-owned) live on the grounds, so are usually around if guests have questions about the camp or the island in general. However, if some guests just want to have their own quiet space, they will find that easy to do as well. We are up in the hills, 1.8 miles from the beach, in what is locally referred to as "the rainforest." It is a quiet, natural area, with forest and farms.

Guests are free to roam the 7 acre property with our Nature Trail through the woods. Or bring a hammock or blanket to enjoy the grounds.

Location

Here are directions to our camp from the airport. It is about a 30 minute drive.

Turn RIGHT out of the airport, following the sign to Frederiksted.

You will go 2 miles and then come to a stoplight.

Turn LEFT at the stoplight onto the highway (our only highway) and follow it all the way to the end (3.4 miles).

At the end of the highway (where it pinches down to a smaller road), turn RIGHT to go towards Frederiksted.

You will go 0.6 miles and then reach a stoplight. Continue straight for another 0.9 miles.

As you enter the small town of Frederiksted, you will come to a T. Turn LEFT.

Take your THIRD RIGHT onto King Street, which takes you through town.

Continue on this road as you head north out of town for another 1.3 miles.

You will pass a beach bar/restaurant called "Rhythms." About 0.5 miles after that, you will pass an abandoned beach bar. Take your next RIGHT on Route 58 (Creque Dam Road). This takes you up into the rainforest. We are 1.8 miles up this road on your left. You will see our large wooden sign that says MOUNT VICTORY CAMP.

Turn LEFT on the dirt road just past our sign and then take your first left to come right up to our office where you can check in. We look forward to seeing you!
